About
A free online game for catching mistakes.
Typoquiz gives you a word or a sentence with one error in it. You find that error and fix it. It is free, it stays in the browser, and it does not ask for an account.
The three games
Each round is 10 puzzles. A correct answer moves on. A miss shows the right word and a short reason. Then you can play again.
- Type the word. The line stays on the screen. You type only the corrected word.
- Choose the version. Four full versions appear. One of them is right.
- Spot the word. The sentence is split into words. You click the one that is wrong.
English (UK), English (US), Spanish, and French are in the settings icon. The one you pick decides which mistakes count. Right now that is English (US).
Who it's for
- People learning English who want a short, practical round.
- Readers and writers who proofread and want to stay sharp.
- Anyone who would rather play ten questions than sit through a lesson.
Where the sentences come from
Most sentences are written by native speakers on Tatoeba, shared underCC BY 2.0 FR. Common misspellings come from Wikipedia's lists of frequent spelling mistakes in English,Spanish, andFrench, shared underCC BY-SA 4.0. One mistake is added to each sentence on purpose, and the puzzles themselves are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0.
